Seeking a full-time and experienced PSW who will live-in while at work and live-out  on days off. The PSW will work in coordination with a three additional PSWs for an elderly couple who live in the Bayview and Lawrence area of Toronto. The couple is in relatively good health.

The position’s schedule rotates with three other PSWs. There is travel via private jet to Florida involved in the position during the winter months (January to April). The PSW must have a valid passport and any necessary visas to qualify for this position. The PSW will ideally have some experience working for High and / or Ultra-High-Net-Worth families.

Location: Toronto with travel to North Palm Beach, Florida from January to April

Toronto Schedule: Two full days on, Five full days off (flexibility required)

Florida Schedule: Rotating Shifts between the PSWs (flexibility required)

 

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and willing to receive an annual flu shot. A G-level driver’s license is an asset but not a pre-requisite. Having a vehicle for work purposes is an asset.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage the well being of the Principals

• Medication management

• Monitor any changes in health and report immediately to an appointed person

• Prepare some simple meals that are nutritious and appealing as well for tea service

• General upkeep of the home to include light housekeeping and laundry

• Table setting and service

• Accompany to appointments

• Have a monitoring night system in place to alert the PSW should a fall or other incident occur

• Keeping a logbook of days’ events and any unusual developments

• Travel to Florida (North Palm Beach) with Principals during winter season (January to April)

• Always maintain confidentiality

• Be prepared to sign a confidentiality agreement

• Anything else that might be required from time to time

Skills and Aptitude Requirements

• PSW certification. Open to non-PSW certification with correct eldercare experience.

• An understanding of PSW safety protocols

• Driving is an asset but not a pre-requisite (if own vehicle is used, the PSW will be compensated for mileage in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines)

• Must be able to be live-in while at work (private accommodation is provided)

• A current passport with no restrictions and all necessary visas to travel into the United States

• Be able to accompany the couple to Florida from January to April

• An ability to work well and collaboratively with others

• Be kind, well-mannered, and compassionate with a respect for professional boundaries

• Comfortable being hands-on and doing light housekeeping (there is a cleaning service)

• Some home cooking experience is an asset

• Experience working for individuals with early cognitive issues is an asset

• A G-level driver’s license is an asset but not a pre-requisite 

• Must be proactive and anticipate Principals’ needs and respond to emergency situations 

• Must be efficient at keeping records

• An ability to either follow instruction or take a leadership role when needed

• Must be an effective communicator (written and verbal)

• Must be organized and able to multi-task

• Excellent decision-making, prioritization ability

• Must be polished and well-mannered

• This is a non-smoking, scent-free household. There is a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or substance abuse while at work.

• Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to receive an annual flu vaccination

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid passport and no travel restrictions
